Ar Ar Artillery!!!!!!

This is PEAK!!! Ghetts is about to drop the highly anticipated ‘Calm Before The Storm’ and those that have been in tune with Ghetto from the ‘2000 & Life’ days know that there is alot to expect from this mixtape especially due to the increasing hostility between himself and P Money, this is Ghetts’s opportunity to go IN on P as his next release will be his debut album ‘Reble With A Cause’ expected to drop around summer time and he will need to focus on a more commercial avenue by that time.

Ghetts has dropped more and more videos during his emergence in the game, the recent hood video ‘Does It Now’ featured exclusively on Grimedaily was emosh but now he’s gone one further and filmed a video for the tune ‘Artillery’ many said a tune directed at P Money himself.

The video can be viewed here… It’s BIG!!!

…..I had to just upload the set from BBC 1Xtra UK Rap Show. Westwood’s guests were none other than the Movement’s jail-birds Scorcher and Mercston.

This also includes an interview with the two.. Scorcher makes me laugh I tell ya, speaking about his new clothes line he says; ‘Yeah we got a whole heap of APPAREL!! That’s like the US way to describe clothing goods/products or equipment!! (You’ll hear that @ 10:40 into the interview!!!)

Mercston goes in straight away though; speaking about not being let back in Grime he says; ‘F it I kick the door down // Big feet 10’s I’m bangin dis like a hor house // A black presidents resident in the white house // Now it’s got me thinking the whole world is mine // Who can blame me? History made me // His story made me think // Forget the critics, concentrate on your lyrics // I’m still one of the sickest//

The set was quite ard…

Meet Me at Primark!!

The trade secret of Primark (or Primarni as it is often known) may have been revealed. Good quality goods at affordable prices are amongst Primark’s main attributes, however it seems as though there is more to it than that.

Many a businessman may question how Primark still strives in the midst of a negative financial climate where a consumerist society has been forced to spend less. The high street fashion chain, which employ 25,000 staff and operate 140 stores have been defying the recession and plan to open stores in Portugal, Netherlands and Germany in 2009.

However, in more negative press, a recent Times Newspaper article has exposed the fact that one of Primark’s clothing suppliers is under investigation as a result of allegations that illegal immigrants were being employed and being paid at rates well below the minimum wage.

Now, as an ethical and politically correct society as we like to believe we are, one would assume that due to this alleged violation of HUMAN rights, we would see at least a minor boycott of Primark. But that won’t happen, in reality we only moan about things and want to go on about campaigns when it suits us, in no way am I trying to play innocent because due to practicalities, Primark has become my main supplier of boxer shorts, vests, socks and plain t-shirts. And this is due to price, quantity and relative quality.

The rise of Primark has been somewhat remarkable, over the years Primark has made itself accessible and acceptable in a similar but superior way to brands such as LIDL and Netto. Primark has become socially accepted, 5 or more years ago people found it embarrassing to shop in Primark, it was solely seen as the type of shop only women go into for underwear, now you might see a girl looking good in a nice dress and she’ll boldly tell you it’s from Primark, and that is cool!! But now it has fully emerged and become a household name and in fact one of the most underrated high street fashion retailers.

Primark has responded to the allegations towards their suppliers by saying, ‘We are extremely concerned about the very serious allegations against our supplier.’ Investigations are continuing.

Can Wiley Be Beaten?
2 Of The Oldest, 2 Of The Best

2 Of The Oldest, 2 Of The Best

Durrty Goodz’s latest move to attempt to de-throne Wiley as the King Of Grime may have been a shot in the foot for the once highly rated Goodz.

Some are from the school of thought that this move by Goodz may simply be a promotional stunt to promote his soon-to-be-released Ultrasound CD. Others, believe that this is much more than a promo and with the level of bars that has been directed towards eachother, it’s hard to believe otherwise;

‘And if you wanna get bright // Then try I’m a warlord I’m taking your life // Remember every time you’re writing a lyric // My man’s in the cell sitting down doing life //’ WILEY.

Now this Wiley and Goodz lyrical battle has history, they are old foes. I remember them battling it out in 2002-2003 days, at that stage Goodz was called Durrty Doogz and he went hard at Wiley, arguably one of Wiley’s hardest battles to date.

Fast forward to 2008, out of the blue Wiley released ‘Where’s My Brother,’ a banger that hardly nobody said they disliked. It was one of those songs, you didn’t fully know what the concept was, like every line was a double subliminal, and you couldn’t really comprehend what it meant but you knew it was a big tune.  Many a conspricy theory were attributed to the song but as often with Wiley, it never fully made sense.

Later on in the year Wiley made it known that the song was unrelated to his once protege Dizzie Rascal, this led to further speculation. It later became known that amongst others, Wiley was relating part of the song in the direction of Durrty Goodz and his life-imprisoned younger brother Crazy Titch.

Goodz made an appearance on Logan Sama before the turn of the year and directed bars towards Wiley as well as playing some of the songs from his new CD which also had bars for Richard Kylie as he is less often known.

This prompted the ‘Angry Garden Gnome Freestyle’ from Wiley which has brought us to where we are now, I don’t know how long this war will continue or whether it will, but whatever it is, I have to say that Wiley is arguably the hardest MC in Grime to clash, he has been through the whole works. There is not much more an MC can say to insult Wiley, we’ve heard he like’s younger girls, heard he smokes crack, but he is still the biggest commodity to Grime.

Also, I cannot see much other MC’s going at Doogz and talking about the sensitive Titch situation and blatently say that he should stop spitting in respect of his imprisoned brother!!

Wiley – See Clear Now.. N’Jai-Alysis

After being delayed in September, Wiley has finally released his highly anticipated album, See Clear Now.

The anticipation seems to be a delay worth waiting for, however a quality product like this has been long overdue for an artist who has many opportunities which have failed to live up to expectations.

2008 has seen British UK (Hip-Hop/Grime/Bassline/Funky House, even POP!!) make an impression in the charts this year but especially UK vocal songs. Wiley’s own Wearing My Rolex hit No.2 in the charts while his former fellow Roll Deep member and protege Dizzee Rascal had a No.1 for four weeks with Dance With Me.

Avid fans will claim that the artists have not stuck to their original Grime genre and background, undoubtedly though it has been this turn in artistic direction which has led to those said successes.

Wiley’s project ‘oozes’ in maturity, sounds range from R & B, Hip-Hop, Bassline to Pop with producers such as Hot-Chip, Mark Ronson, Bless Beatz, Jake Gosling some of those involved on this highly eclectic project. Wiley’s decision not to produce for himself on this project may be part of the reason as to why his vocal ability complements each song accordingly, like he had more time to focus on it. This will surely not be an album simply targeted at the teenage market, this album can appeal to people from a much wider walk of life.

On the back of Wearing My Rolex, many assumed Wiley would rest on his laurels and live off his successes, this is disproved by this album. The title track, See Clear Now featuring Kano and Scorcher is a sign of the development of Wiley’s artistic and mental frame of mind. Although Scorcher’s appearance outshines the others with his bridge and hook reminiscent of a ‘London Jay-Z flow’ if there is one! The song is catchy and somewhat meaningful.

5am featuring Scorcher is my personal favourite, Wiley demonstrating maturity in his personal life from the days of Pay As You Go Cartel and the ‘road’ mentality, backed up by a soulful Hip Hop ballad.

‘Let ’em into my world show ’em how I took // A sound from here a sound from there // Said I’d neva leave the hood but now I look back don’t matter where you live // You’re alive and kicking // I’ll always try and stop you trippin // But it’s awkward if you’re slipping up yourself // I ain’t perfect though //’

I Need To Be, a Pop/Up-Tempo hit will surely be a club tune, alongside the successful Wearing My Rolex, Summertime and catchy Cash In My Pocket. The use of the Republica sample on Can’t Stop Thinking is used very well and produces an effective song. Step By Step produced by Hot Chip is a Jay Z featuring Linkin Park plus a sprinkle of Electro type hit, it somehow works.

In conclusion, this album could somewhat be compared to ones favourite sandwich. In between lies the chosen meat/fish, salad, sauces  and any extras, demonstrated on the album by the musical variety. The outskirts, or the bread of the sandwich are the first and last tracks, Wiley’s bread, Grime. All in all, this is a good project, Grime fans may not be entirely satisfied however as an artist this is definitely his best project to date, with Race Against Time, his next album set to be out early next year, if this is the standard of UK Music at the latter stage of 2008, after a prosperous year, 2009 appears to be a very good look!
